About the Chicago Bulls
Last Year
The Chicago Bulls started the 2004-05 season going winless in their first nine games, but ended the season with their fans looking forward to the future. There were many bright spots in the 47 win season for the Bulls, four of them being rookies. Ben Gordon, Luol Deng, Chris Duhon and Andres Nocioni made GM John Paxson look like a genius. Gordon, a three-time Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month and NBA Top Sixth Man, was Mr. Clutch for the Bulls. He scored 10 or more points in the fourth quarter 21 times. He finished the season by averaging 15.1 ppg. Gordon and Deng (11.7 ppg and 5.3 rpg) each earned All-Rookie first team honors. The Bulls also endured steady play by Tyson Chapman (8.0 ppg and 9.7 rpg), Eddy Curry (16.1 ppg and 5.1 rpg) and Kirk Hinrich (15.7 ppg and 6.4 apg). The Bulls returned to the playoffs for the first time since 1998 and faced the Washington Wizards in the first round. The Bulls fell to the Wizards in six games.
This Year
The Bulls have a lot to look forward to next season. The youth movement has paid immediate dividends for the Bulls, so adding a veteran or two would give the Bulls a good balance. The health and free agent status of Eddy Curry is a concern. Curry was held out of the playoffs due to an enlarged heart. Chandler, Duhon and Othella Harrington are also free agents for the Bulls. If they can re-sign Curry, Duhon and Chandler, along with a veteran, the Bulls should continue to get better. The fans of Chicago are some of the best in the NBA and the Bulls will provide many exciting moments for years to come.
