Florida Swingman Aims To Be Lottery Selection
Corey Brewer
Forward/6-9/185
Corey Brewer, a First Team All-SEC selection, averaged 13.2 points, 4.7 rebounds and 28.7 minutes while coming up with a team-high 69 steals in 37 starts as the Gators took home their second straight NCAA title.
The Tennessee native enters the draft with teammates Al Horford, Joakim Noah and Taurean Green after coming to the decision that he had accomplished most of what he could in college athletics.
“I feel like we’ve done everything we could possibly do in college basketball, and then some more. It’s been so much fun, but I feel like we all know it’s time to move on and take new challenges,” Brewer said of the decision to enter the draft with him peers by his side. “It’s hard though, because we love each other so much.”
Of the four former Gators who will be available on June 28, Brewer is expected to be a Top 10 pick and may closely follow Horford into the NBA ranks. The shooting guard has been likened to Detroit’s Tayshaun Prince. According to ESPN.com, Brewer’s size and defensive abilities are elite for a player in his position.
